ABŞ-nin xüsusi elçisi Stiv Uitkoff Dohaya səfər edib: İranla danışıqlar gözlənilir

US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, according to reports from CNN.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the visit takes place against the backdrop of expectations regarding potential negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that an Iranian delegation is scheduled to visit Doha this week. Official Tehran stated that the primary objective of the visit is to discuss the unfreezing of Iranian assets. However, the Iranian side emphasized that these contacts are not directly linked to negotiations with US representatives.

Diplomatic channels continue to facilitate discussions between the parties regarding various economic and financial issues.

The visit follows recent media reports alleging that Israel may have monitored telephone conversations between US officials, including Steve Witkoff and Elbridge Colby, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and Force Development. To date, there has been no official confirmation or denial regarding these claims.

Qatar has historically served as a critical mediator in regional conflicts and diplomatic standoffs, frequently hosting indirect talks between the United States and Iran. Given the complex geopolitical landscape in the Middle East, Doha's role remains pivotal in maintaining communication channels between Washington and Tehran, particularly concerning sanctions relief and regional security matters.
