The US Senate has blocked a resolution that would have prohibited the use of military force against Cuba without explicit approval from Congress.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, members of the Democratic Party in the upper house of Congress attempted to bring the resolution to an accelerated discussion, but the initiative failed to gain the necessary support. The final vote recorded 47 senators in favor and 51 against, effectively halting the legislative effort to limit the administration's military options in the Caribbean.

US President Donald Trump has previously outlined his administration's strategic approach toward Cuba, signaling that a policy of pressure and firm measures in the Caribbean region may continue. This vote occurs against a backdrop of long-standing diplomatic and economic tensions between Washington and Havana. Historically, the US has maintained a complex relationship with Cuba, characterized by a decades-long embargo and varying degrees of diplomatic engagement, with the current administration emphasizing national security and regional stability as primary drivers of its foreign policy.
