The US Embassy in Azerbaijan is closed today in observance of Memorial Day, a federal holiday in the United States.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the embassy released a statement highlighting the significance of the day. "Each year on Memorial Day, Americans honor the heroic men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the US Armed Forces. As America approaches the 250th anniversary of its independence, we remember with gratitude those who gave their lives for freedom, peace, and the values that unite us. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Please note that the US Embassy will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the holiday," the embassy statement said.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States, observed annually on the last Monday of May to honor and mourn the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Many Americans observe the day by visiting cemeteries and memorials, holding family gatherings, and participating in parades. In various cities across the US, parades are held featuring military personnel and members of veterans' organizations.
