Following a series of reciprocal attacks, reports indicate that the United States and Iran have reached an agreement to cease military operations.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, international media outlets have reported that the decision follows a period of heightened tensions in and around the Strait of Hormuz, during which both parties accused one another of violating ceasefire agreements. An unnamed US official stated that the freedom of navigation for vessels in the Strait of Hormuz will be restored, adding that diplomatic negotiations aimed at resolving the broader conflict are expected to continue. While the US has signaled a path toward de-escalation, the Iranian side has yet to issue an official statement regarding the cessation of hostilities.

The agreement reportedly centers on a 14-point memorandum signed on June 17, which mandates an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across all fronts. Under the terms of this framework, Iran has committed to ensuring the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz over the next 60 days. However, the stability of this arrangement remains fragile, as recent attacks on cargo ships and subsequent US retaliatory airstrikes have complicated the implementation. Reports suggest that in response to these strikes, Iranian forces allegedly targeted US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.

The Strait of Hormuz serves as a critical maritime chokepoint, facilitating a significant portion of global oil and natural gas shipments. Restoring stability in this region is a priority for international markets, though diplomatic efforts remain complex. The situation is further complicated by regional instability, including reports that Hezbollah has rejected a US-mediated framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon, accusing the Lebanese government of undermining national sovereignty. Meanwhile, Tehran has emphasized that a broader, sustainable ceasefire is contingent upon a complete cessation of hostilities in Lebanon, highlighting the interconnected nature of regional security dynamics.
