An unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has crashed near the settlement of Luncavita in eastern Romania, located approximately five kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Romanian Ministry of Defense reported that the drone impacted a forested area. The military authority stated that the device was flying at an extremely low altitude, which prevented it from being detected by the country's radar surveillance systems.
The District Inspectorate for Emergency Situations confirmed that the impact of the UAV caused an explosion, which subsequently ignited a fire in the vicinity. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties resulting from the incident.
This event is not an isolated occurrence within Romanian territory. The Ministry of Defense has previously acknowledged similar incidents involving the discovery of drone debris near the border. Romania, a NATO member state, has been on heightened alert regarding airspace security since the onset of the conflict in neighboring Ukraine, frequently monitoring its border regions for potential incursions.
