The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham, has finalized the initial appointments for his cabinet as he moves forward with the government formation process.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Prime Minister Burnham, who received the mandate to form a government from King Charles III, invited candidates to 10 Downing Street to confirm their roles in the new administration.
The official social media account of the Prime Minister's Office on X (formerly Twitter) released the list of new cabinet members. Yvette Cooper has been appointed as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Angela Rayner as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Lucy Powell as Secretary of State for Education, Wes Streeting as Secretary of State for Defence, and Alex Norris as Secretary of State for Justice.
Additionally, Stephen Kinnock has been appointed Minister of State for Wales, Douglas Alexander for Scotland, and Chris Bryant for Northern Ireland. Hamish Falconer has been named Minister of State for Intergovernmental and European Relations.
It should be noted that previous announcements confirmed Ed Miliband as Foreign Secretary, Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary, John Healey as Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Louise Haigh as Deputy Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, and Secretary of State for the Cabinet Office.
