Türkiye continues to demonstrate its commitment to international cooperation by providing support in the fight against large-scale forest fires that have been raging across Europe for several days.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing information from TRT Haber, that Türkiye has responded swiftly to a request for assistance from France, following similar aid provided to Spain.
Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli announced that, in accordance with the directive of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, two firefighting aircraft were dispatched to France to bolster local efforts in extinguishing the blazes.
Minister Yumakli emphasized that the ongoing forest fires in Europe highlight the significant challenges associated with combating such natural disasters. He noted that, thanks to its technical capabilities and extensive experience, Türkiye feels a responsibility to protect not only its own forests but also those of other nations when the need arises.
"Following our support to Spain, we have responded to France's request in a short period," Yumakli stated, while wishing success to the flight crews and all personnel involved in the firefighting operations. He reaffirmed that Türkiye will continue to uphold international solidarity and maintain its determined stance in the global fight against forest fires.
Türkiye has increasingly positioned itself as a key regional player in disaster management. The country's aerial firefighting fleet, which has been significantly modernized in recent years, frequently participates in international missions, reflecting Ankara's broader foreign policy goal of strengthening diplomatic ties through humanitarian and technical assistance during climate-related crises.
