England manager Thomas Tuchel answered questions after his team secured a 2-0 away victory over Czechia in the second round of the UEFA Nations League group stage.
The German coach was asked whether he had paid special attention to Manchester City players Marc Guehi and Elliot Anderson. He replied: “No, there was no need to do that. I feel guilty now. In fact, I did not do it because I focused all my attention on the tasks ahead and the team’s preparations. I have not discussed this matter with them and will not comment on it.”
Tuchel said Guehi had performed at a high level against Czechia after a difficult match against Spain. He also noted that Anderson had played well.
An independent commission has found Manchester City guilty of breaching financial regulations between 2009 and 2018. The club has until Oct. 2 to file an appeal.
The UEFA Nations League is a competition for European national teams, designed to provide more competitive fixtures during international windows. Its group-stage results also influence promotion, relegation and qualification pathways within the tournament.
