US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to impose severe tariff measures against countries supplying weapons to Iran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the president issued this statement on the Truth Social platform, following a post regarding the commencement of negotiations with Tehran concerning the potential easing of sanctions.
"Countries that supply weapons to Iran will be subject to a 50% tariff, effective immediately," he emphasized. According to US President Donald Trump, the new measure will be applied without any exceptions. "There will be no exceptions or exemptions," he noted.
This move signals a significant escalation in the United States' "maximum pressure" campaign against the Iranian administration. By linking international trade access to military cooperation with Tehran, the US administration aims to further isolate Iran's defense sector and curb the proliferation of conventional weaponry in the Middle East. The announcement comes at a critical juncture as Washington balances diplomatic overtures regarding economic sanctions with firm security requirements.
