U.S. President Donald Trump said he deserves eight Nobel Peace Prizes, claiming he played a role in resolving international conflicts.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the U.S. leader made the remarks on the Truth Social platform, expressing dissatisfaction with the decision of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
“I settled eight wars. The presidents and prime ministers of the countries I helped sent letters to the Norwegian Nobel Committee. In fact, I should have received not one, but eight Nobel Peace Prizes,” Trump wrote.
He said he was referring to conflicts involving Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as Israel and Hamas.
The U.S. president also claimed that they were close to resolving two more conflicts: one involving Iran and another between Russia and Ukraine.
“Both processes are moving forward rapidly. But even without counting them, the eight wars I have already settled are sufficient grounds for me to receive the Nobel Peace Prize,” he said.
Trump criticized the decision to award the prize to a woman who works at the United Nations, saying he knew nothing about her. He also accused the laureate of being hostile toward Israel.
The U.S. leader listed other achievements he believes merit international recognition. In particular, he claimed to have prevented Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, secured the release of hostages and the return of political prisoners, and prompted NATO countries to increase defense spending.
Trump also said he had prevented armed conflicts on the Korean Peninsula and around Taiwan.
“I have saved more lives than anyone in history,” the U.S. president said.
He also claimed that the United Nations had not helped him resolve any of the conflicts he listed.
“The United States of America, which I represent as your country’s president, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize. But that did not happen,” Trump wrote. In his view, the committee’s decision had dealt irreparable damage to the reputation of Norway and the Nobel Peace Prize.
