US President Donald Trump has issued a new update regarding the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz via his social media account.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the president highlighted a significant increase in the number of vessels transiting through the strategic waterway.

"Yesterday, 34 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz. This is the highest number recorded since the senseless closure of the strait," Trump stated.

The announcement follows the US leader's declaration of a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz after negotiations held in Pakistan regarding Iran ended without results. Subsequently, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a maritime blockade would be enforced starting April 13 against all vessels entering or exiting Iranian ports.

President Donald Trump's latest statement also included a stern warning directed at Tehran:

"Any Iranian vessels that approach US naval forces enforcing the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will be immediately neutralized."

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes daily. Located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, its security is considered paramount for global energy markets and international trade stability. The current escalation follows a period of heightened regional tensions, prompting increased US military presence in the Middle East to ensure the freedom of navigation and protect commercial shipping lanes.
