Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed discussing the integration of TRIPP into the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, the Middle Corridor) within the “C5+1” cooperation format.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that Tokayev made the remarks at the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asia in Avaza.
“I believe that the integration of the TRIPP transport initiative into the Middle Corridor could be discussed at the expert level for now. This would expand the existing potential of the TITR and serve the long-term interests of all our states,” he said.
Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan attaches particular importance to developing the Trans-Caspian route, as its growth in recent years clearly demonstrates rising demand.
The Kazakh president said that, according to World Bank estimates, cargo volumes moving across the Caspian Sea could quadruple by 2040 if all planned infrastructure tasks are completed.
