Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has proposed developing joint tourism routes linking Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Japarov made the proposal during his address at the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asia in Turkmenbashi.
He said routes should be developed on the “one journey — several countries” principle and that a mechanism for introducing a single tourist visa should be worked out.
Japarov noted that creating a common tourism space would offer significant opportunities to bring the peoples of the region closer together. He said Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan have complementary tourism potential.
“Historic cities, mountain and Caspian routes, and a rich cultural heritage make it possible to combine efforts to promote Central Asia and Azerbaijan as an attractive travel destination,” the Kyrgyz president said.
He also expressed hope that Kyrgyzstan’s initiative to introduce a unified tourist visa would continue to receive support. “We propose instructing our foreign ministries to develop specific mechanisms for its implementation,” Japarov said.
