Militants killed at least three traffic police personnel in an ambush in northwestern Pakistan on Monday, the country’s Interior Ministry said.
The attack took place in Tank district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which has faced a fresh wave of militant attacks in recent months. Two passers-by were also wounded in the gunfire and taken to hospital.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Militants affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan have frequently targeted security forces in the region, which borders Afghanistan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 54 terrorist attacks last month, a 50% increase from July, according to monthly data compiled by the Islamabad-based Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies.
