The international community has expressed broad support for the ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide have all welcomed this historic step toward regional stability.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the officials shared their assessments of the process through statements on their respective X accounts. Friedrich Merz welcomed the two-week ceasefire and expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its mediation efforts. He noted that the next phase must involve comprehensive negotiations to achieve a lasting peace.

Andrii Sybiha also praised the ceasefire and the agreement to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, reached between US President Donald Trump and Iran. Highlighting Pakistan's role, Sybiha stated: "The determination of the United States is yielding results. We believe it is time to show the same resolve to force Moscow into a ceasefire and end its war against Ukraine."

The Norwegian Foreign Minister remarked that the temporary truce provides a vital opportunity for diplomacy at a time when the world is on the brink of dangerous escalation. He highly valued the efforts of Pakistan, as well as Turkiye and Egypt, aimed at advancing the dialogue between the parties.

The Strait of Hormuz, mentioned in the agreement, is one of the world's most strategically important chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes. This ceasefire follows a period of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with US President Donald Trump emphasizing a policy of regional de-escalation through diplomatic strength and strategic mediation by regional partners.
