Three more technology-based electronic weighbridges have been installed on public roads in Azerbaijan to protect road infrastructure, extend the service life of roads and ensure traffic safety.

The Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), operating under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, told the “Operative Information Center-OMM”.

Two of the electronic weighbridges have been installed at kilometer 91 of the M-2 Baku–Alat–Gazakh–Georgia state border highway, in the Navahi settlement of Hajigabul District, in the directions of Baku and Gazakh. Another weighbridge has been installed at kilometer 18 of the M-6 Hajigabul–Bahramtapa–Minjivan highway, in Sabirabad District, in the direction of the capital.

Control measures using the electronic weighbridges will begin on Oct. 2, it was reported.

“The installation of technology-based electronic weighbridges on highways is being carried out in stages. Electronic weighbridges enable automated monitoring of compliance by freight vehicles with permitted weight limits,” the statement said.

When an administrative offense involving the operation of freight vehicles on public roads in excess of permitted weight limits is detected by electronic weighbridges, the relevant information is transmitted electronically in real time directly to the central information system, and an electronic decision imposing an administrative penalty is issued.

Carriers are requested to strictly comply with the requirements established by law regarding vehicle dimensions, weight and axle load parameters, including cargo.

Electronic weighbridges are being introduced as part of Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to improve road safety and preserve the country’s transport infrastructure. Automated monitoring is intended to reduce the risks associated with overloaded vehicles and support more consistent enforcement of weight regulations.
