Three more members of Azerbaijan’s national team advanced on the second day of the U-17 European Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro.
Alsu Yafarova (54 kg) defeated Belarusian Hanna Belyankova by a clear margin in the first round of their round-of-16 bout. She will face Ukraine’s Oleksandra Cherevata in her next bout on October 7.
Jamila Muradli (57 kg) beat Romania’s Sara Persan 5-0 to reach the quarterfinals. The judges’ scores were 30-24, 30-24, 30-25, 30-26 and 30-27. Muradli will meet Czech boxer Rozalie Uhrova on October 8.
Shukar Aliyev (80 kg) defeated Poland’s Igor Tomicek 4-1 in the round of 32. The judges’ scores were 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 and 28-29. Aliyev will face Georgia’s Lazare Dokvadze, who received a bye in the opening round, in the round of 16 on October 5.
The championships, featuring 473 boxers from 40 countries, will conclude on October 11.
