Transitional weather conditions typical of the season have been observed in October.

The National Hydrometeorological Service told the Operative Information Center-OMM.

Temperatures are rising as warm air masses move into Azerbaijan, the service said.

In the first days of October this year, temperatures reached 26°C in Baku and up to 30°C in the regions. Temperatures were above the climatic norm on nine days, below it on three days and close to it on one day. On October 13, the temperature was 5°C above the norm, while on October 3 it was 5.5°C below it.

Over the 13-day period, the average temperature was 2.9°C above the monthly norm. In 2012, the corresponding figure was 3.1°C.

Analysis of long-term meteorological observations shows that the warmest conditions were recorded on October 9, 2012. The maximum temperature in Baku that day was 32.7°C.

Stable and mostly dry weather is expected across Azerbaijan through the weekend. However, brief showers and thunderstorms are possible in some mountainous areas in the evening. Fog is expected in some places overnight and in the morning. Southeasterly winds will prevail.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 23–28°C in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, 26–31°C in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and lowland districts, and 21–26°C in mountainous districts.
