Weather conditions are expected to change sharply in Azerbaijan in the first days of October. Strong winds are forecast in several regions, while heavy rain, floods and flash floods are possible in some areas.
Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the National Hydrometeorological Service, reports that the first 10 days of October will be mostly cool and rainy. Temperatures are expected to fall by 5-10 degrees on some days.
Orange warning issued for two regions
An orange warning for strong winds has been issued for the Neftchala and Gobustan districts.
Wind speeds in these areas are expected to reach 20-28 meters per second. Strong winds are forecast to continue during the first two days of October.
A yellow warning remains in effect for Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Siyazan, Khizi, the liberated districts of Kalbajar, Jabrayil and Lachin, as well as the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Wind speeds in these areas may increase to 13-20 meters per second.
Rain expected for a week
According to the forecast, rainy weather will spread across the country from this evening and tomorrow morning.
Intermittent rain is expected during the first 10 days, with intense showers possible in some areas. Water levels are forecast to rise in rivers flowing through the foothills of the Lesser and Greater Caucasus.
Flash floods and flooding are possible in rivers in the Lankaran-Astara region.
Precipitation may turn to sleet and snow in high-mountain areas. Hail and thunderstorms are also possible in some locations.
What will the weather be like in Baku?
In Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula, the weather on the first day of October will be partly cloudy and mostly dry. Fog may be observed in the morning and evening.
Northwest winds will be replaced by northeast winds in the evening.
Nighttime temperatures in the capital and on the Absheron Peninsula will be 17-18 degrees, while daytime temperatures will reach 22-26 degrees.
Temperatures in regions to rise to 28 degrees
Weather in the regions will be partly cloudy. Intermittent rain is expected in some places, with heavy showers possible in certain areas.
Thunderstorms and hail in high-mountain areas are possible.
Nighttime temperatures in the regions will be 15-17 degrees, while daytime temperatures will rise to 22-27 degrees, reaching 28 degrees in some areas.
In high-mountain areas, nighttime temperatures will be 6-8 degrees, and daytime temperatures will stand at 15-20 degrees.
