Authorities in Sudan’s North Kordofan state on Monday accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of carrying out drone strikes against civilian facilities in El-Obeid, the state capital.
According to the state government, the alleged targets included the city’s sports complex and the private Shikan University College. No casualties or material damage were reported.
“Targeting civilian, educational and sports facilities constitutes a blatant attack on citizens and their resources and a violation of international humanitarian law,” the government said in a statement.
Authorities call for international action
The state government urged the international community, as well as rights and humanitarian organisations, to condemn the alleged attacks on civilian objects.
It also called for measures to protect civilians, document the alleged violations and hold those responsible accountable. The RSF did not immediately comment on the accusation.
Drone attacks amid Sudan war
Last month, the United Nations said 1,100 civilians had been killed in drone attacks in Sudan between January and June.
Sudan’s three Kordofan states — North, West and South — have witnessed clashes between the army and the RSF since Oct. 25, 2025.
Sudan has been embroiled in a war between the army and the RSF since April 2023. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced about 13 million, according to UN and international estimates.
