Snowfall reported in Gusar and Shahdag as temperatures drop

Rainy and windy conditions are being observed across much of Azerbaijan, with occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Snow is falling in Gyriz, Khinalig, Gusar and Shahdag. Precipitation in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula reached 31 millimeters, equal to 110% of the monthly norm.

The highest precipitation totals in Azerbaijan’s districts were recorded in Gabala, at 72 millimeters (57% of the monthly norm); Lankaran, 56 (22%); Saribash in Gakh, 50 (41%); Oghuz, 41 (41%); Khaldan, 37 (76%); Kishchay in Shaki, 36 (41%); Shahdag, 33 (52%); Astara, 29; Gusar, 28 (44%); Khinalig, 27 (42%); Zagatala, 27 (27%); Sabirabad, 25 (61%); Khizi, 25 (44%); Gyriz, 22 (45%); Balakan, 19; Yardimli and Goychay, 14 each; Gobustan, 12; Ismayilli, 11; and Shamakhi and Guba, 10 each. Other districts recorded between 1 and 8 millimeters. Northeasterly winds are blowing in some areas. Maximum wind speeds have reached 23 meters per second in Neftchala, 22 in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and 20 in Shahdag.
