Apple has unveiled a $1,999 foldable iPhone. The company has entered the foldable smartphone market with the passport-style iPhone Duo, featuring a 7.6-inch display, an A20 Pro chip and a starting price of $1,999.
The launch highlights Apple’s effort to compete with Chinese rivals such as Samsung and Huawei. Analysts expect the company to secure a significant share of the growing foldable phone market.
Huawei and Xiaomi have unveiled new foldable phones. Huawei presented its Mate XT2 tri-fold smartphone, while Xiaomi showcased the Xiaomi 18 Fold. Both devices use locally produced chips.
The move reflects Chinese manufacturers’ efforts to reduce their reliance on foreign technology and intensifies pressure on Apple in China’s premium smartphone market.

An Anthropic researcher has warned about the risks of artificial intelligence to humanity. Evan Hubinger, a safety researcher at the company, said the probability that rapidly developing artificial intelligence systems could cause catastrophic harm to humanity within the next decade may exceed 10 percent.
