A drowning incident has been reported in the Yevlax district of Azerbaijan, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.
According to information obtained by the Operative Information Center-OMM, it is presumed that Mahir Nadirov, a resident of the Goyunbinesi village in Yevlax born in 2000, drowned in the section of the Upper Garabagh Canal passing through the territory of Malbinesi village.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, specialized rescue teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations were dispatched to the scene. Search operations are currently underway in the area to locate the individual.
The Upper Garabagh Canal is a critical water infrastructure project in Azerbaijan, originally constructed to facilitate irrigation and water supply across the region. Due to its significant length and strong currents, the canal remains a high-risk area, and authorities frequently issue safety warnings to residents living in proximity to the waterway.
