A Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said it intercepted and destroyed 10 ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi group from Yemen toward southern Saudi Arabia on Sunday, according to Anadolu Agency.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said on “X” that the missiles had been shot down. He gave no details about possible injuries or damage.
Earlier on Sunday, al-Maliki said the coalition had intercepted and destroyed a Houthi cruise missile targeting the southwestern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.
He also said coalition forces had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile and two drones launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh.
The developments came amid escalating hostilities involving attacks on Saudi aviation and energy infrastructure, as well as coalition strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the Houthis since 2015.
The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and other parts of Yemen since 2014.
