An AH-6i helicopter crashed because of a technical malfunction in Saudi Arabia’s Najran region, killing two crew members. Saudi coalition spokesman Brig. Gen. Turki al-Maliki announced the incident in a statement issued on Sunday.
The statement said the helicopter crashed in an area under the jurisdiction of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of National Guard.
Yahya Sarea, the military spokesman for the Houthis operating in Yemen, said in a post on the X platform on Saturday that the group’s forces had shot down a Saudi Apache helicopter near Najran. He said the helicopter had been carrying out “hostile activity” against Houthi positions along the border.
It is unclear whether the two sides were referring to the same helicopter.
