US player Cerri Bleyks of Sabah basketball club shared his thoughts after the team’s 84-74 victory over LANDAU Lions in the opening game of the Azerbaijan Basketball League (ABL) season.
He said the team had worked hard to complete the comeback and acknowledged the quality of their opponents: “As a team, we did everything we could. We also have to give credit to the opponents; they are a good team. We simply had to finish the game strongly.”
Cerri Bleyks stressed that they had known in advance that the match would be difficult. He noted that they had also faced the same opponents several days earlier and had to continue fighting throughout the game.
The import player, who did not consider his individual performance fully satisfactory, said he could have played better: “Actually, I was not satisfied. I think I can play better. I can improve myself further. But we won, and that is also good.”
Bleyks also expressed satisfaction with the support from the fans. According to him, the team will seek to achieve its goals for the season step by step.
The Azerbaijan Basketball League is the country’s top domestic basketball competition, bringing together clubs that compete throughout the season for the national title.
