The Russian military launched a large-scale strike on Ukrainian territory overnight using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missiles. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that energy infrastructure in several regions of the country sustained serious damage as a result of the attacks.
According to Ukrainian military officials, dozens of strike drones, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles, were utilized during the assault. The primary targets included energy facilities in Kyiv, Odessa, and central Ukraine. The Kyiv regional administration reported that at least one person was killed and five others were injured.
Destruction was recorded in five districts of the province, with more than ten houses damaged. Governor Mykola Kalashnyk emphasized that rescue operations are ongoing at the scene. Odessa Governor Oleh Kiper noted that drone attacks on energy facilities caused fires, which were subsequently extinguished.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha sharply criticized Russia's actions on his "X" social media account:
The minister called on the international community to impose tougher sanctions against the Kremlin."Russia continues to undermine diplomacy with massive terror strikes. This terror cannot be normalized; it must be stopped."
These latest strikes come amid a prolonged conflict that has seen Ukraine's energy grid repeatedly targeted, particularly during winter months, to disrupt heating and electricity supplies to the civilian population. International observers note that such systematic attacks on critical civilian infrastructure raise significant concerns regarding international humanitarian law. The energy sector remains one of the most vulnerable points in Ukraine's defense and domestic stability, necessitating continuous repair efforts and international technical assistance.
