Rui Jorge: Azerbaijan aim to play quality football against Moldova

Azerbaijan U-20 head coach Rui Jorge has assessed the team’s training camp in Gabala. He said the players had been taking part in training with enthusiasm and had gained a better understanding of the team’s playing style and requirements.

Jorge said he was pleased with the players’ response to the preparations. However, he stressed that the team was at the beginning of its development and would need to work harder to reach a level at which it could compete at the World Cup. He added that the players were striving to perform with quality and commitment.

The head coach described the friendly against Moldova’s U-20 team on Oct. 3 as a serious test. He said the opponents played with intensity, had physically strong players and applied a high press. Azerbaijan are aware of the challenge but are preparing for the match.

The Azerbaijan-Moldova U-20 friendly will be held at the Gabala City Stadium on Oct. 3. Kick-off is at 6 p.m., and CBC Sport will broadcast the match live on its YouTube channel.
