Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro, has commented on the controversy surrounding the footballer. She said the Portuguese had forgotten his past contributions and now expected everything to be different.
“I’m saddened because, unfortunately, the Portuguese have forgotten what has already been done and think everything should be different now,” Aveiro told SIC Notícias.
She said it was difficult to see what her brother was going through: “I have no words. It is very hard for me to see my brother go through all this. He is one of the people who least deserves it.”
Ronaldo, 41, left Portugal’s national team camp without authorization after not playing in a 2-1 UEFA Nations League match against Norway. Former England forward Wayne Rooney had also criticized Ronaldo over the situation.
