The Main State Road Police Department has issued an appeal to truck drivers.
The department provided the information to “Operative Information Center-OMM”.
It said that road traffic accidents involving trucks have been reported frequently in recent days:
“For this reason, drivers are required, first and foremost, to comply with the speed limit set for the road, maintain a safe following distance, strictly observe overtaking and maneuvering rules, ensure that the weight and dimensions of their cargo comply with regulatory requirements, and make sure the cargo is properly packaged and securely fastened. They must also monitor the vehicle’s technical condition, comply with work and rest schedules, avoid driving when tired or sleep-deprived, refrain from using mobile phones or other distracting devices while behind the wheel, and take weather and road conditions into account while driving.”
These requirements are particularly important for heavy vehicles because their size, weight and braking distance can increase the risks associated with speeding, unsecured cargo, poor vehicle maintenance and driver fatigue. Careful compliance with road rules helps reduce the likelihood and severity of crashes.
