Puccini's Tosca premieres at Royal Opera House Muscat

On January 31, the premiere of world-renowned Italian composer Giacomo Puccini's opera "Tosca" took place on the stage of the Royal Opera House in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman.

The Ministry of Culture informed Operative Information Center-OMM that the performance, presented by the collective of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, was attended by Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Adil Karimli and the leadership of the Omani theater.

The production featured the acclaimed tenor and People's Artist of Azerbaijan, Yusif Eyvazov, in the leading role of Mario Cavaradossi. The performance, which was met with great interest from the audience, was accompanied by the symphony orchestra and choir of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

The appearance of the Azerbaijani collective at a prestigious venue such as the Royal Opera House Muscat marks a significant milestone in the international promotion of the country's musical culture. Such collaborations serve to strengthen cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Oman, showcasing the high caliber of Azerbaijani operatic talent on the global stage. Giacomo Puccini's "Tosca," first premiered in 1900, remains one of the most frequently performed works in the international operatic repertoire, known for its dramatic intensity and iconic arias.
