Asif Nasirli, a radiologist at the Radiation Therapy Department of the National Oncology Center, passed away on May 5 at 21:45 in the hospital where he was receiving treatment for severe injuries sustained during an explosion at the facility, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan has announced.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed by the Prosecutor General's Office that the preliminary investigation into the criminal case initiated by the Yasamal District Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident is currently ongoing. Officials emphasized the importance of relying solely on official sources when disseminating information about the case. "We ask social media users and media representatives to verify the accuracy of information with relevant state authorities before publication. Protecting investigation secrets and respecting the rights of criminal prosecution participants are fundamental legal and ethical requirements," the statement noted.
The incident occurred on April 30 at approximately 14:00 at the National Oncology Center of the Ministry of Health in Baku. The facility is the primary specialized medical center in Azerbaijan for the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases, housing advanced radiological equipment. Law enforcement agencies have urged the public to refrain from spreading unconfirmed or distorted information that could cause public confusion or hinder the procedural measures being carried out by the authorities.
