President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye, Cevdet Yilmaz, on April 2. During the meeting, the sides emphasized the unbreakable bond of brotherhood and the evolving strategic partnership between the two nations.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Cevdet Yilmaz conveyed the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the head of state. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked the Vice President to convey his own regards to the Turkish leader. Yilmaz underscored that Türkiye always stands by Azerbaijan, noting that this solidarity remains a core principle of the Shusha Declaration.
The meeting highlighted the successful development of allied relations across all sectors, noting that high-level reciprocal visits significantly contribute to expanding bilateral ties. Discussions also touched upon the importance of the meeting of heads of government and vice presidents of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member countries in Baku. Cevdet Yilmaz expressed appreciation for the participation of the Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the Baku event, thanking the Azerbaijani side for its support. He further praised Azerbaijan's successful chairmanship of the OTS, recalling the high-level results achieved during the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State held in Gabala last year.
The Shusha Declaration, signed on June 15, 2021, serves as the foundational document elevating Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations to the level of a formal military-political alliance. This strategic partnership encompasses cooperation in defense, economy, energy, and regional security, reinforcing the principle of "one nation, two states." The ongoing collaboration within the Organization of Turkic States further strengthens integration among Turkic-speaking nations, promoting stability and economic growth across the Eurasian region.
