President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Muhammad Al Jasser, President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, on May 6.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing partnership, recalling previous meetings that have contributed to expanding bilateral ties. It was noted that the IsDB has established efficient cooperation with Azerbaijan over many years, allocating more than $1.2 billion for nearly 20 state and private projects. These initiatives span various sectors, including energy, green energy, agriculture, water and irrigation systems, infrastructure, and social development. The meeting also covered preparations for the bank's Annual Meetings to be held in Baku this June, with the guest noting his intention to visit the Alat Free Economic Zone and the Garabagh region.
The Islamic Development Bank, a multilateral development finance institution, plays a crucial role in supporting infrastructure and sustainable development across its member countries. For Azerbaijan, this partnership is vital for the ongoing socio-economic development and the massive reconstruction projects currently underway in the liberated territories of Garabagh. The bank's focus on green energy further supports Azerbaijan's commitment to environmental sustainability and its role as a regional energy leader.
