President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by the President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi, on February 11.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the close political, economic, and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and the Arab world. The head of state emphasized that reciprocal visits between himself and the leaders of Arab nations play a pivotal role in expanding these bilateral relations.

Touching upon Azerbaijan's contributions to strengthening Islamic solidarity, the President underscored the significance of the Islamic Solidarity Games previously hosted in Baku as a testament to the country's commitment to the Muslim world. President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the visit of the delegation led by Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi would be productive in further cementing ties between Azerbaijan and the League of Arab States.

Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi expressed his gratitude for the reception and congratulated the Azerbaijani leader on the achievements made toward the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He noted President Ilham Aliyev's special role in establishing peace both regionally and globally, stating that the world is in need of leaders with such vision. In response, President Ilham Aliyev thanked him for the kind words, noting that regional development depends on lasting peace, and specifically highlighted the special role of US President Donald Trump in advancing the peace agenda.

The guest expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Arab people for Azerbaijan's firm support regarding the Palestinian issue. President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed that Azerbaijan has always supported a solution based on the "two-state" principle in accordance with the unanimous position of the League of Arab States. He recalled his participation in the Middle East Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh at the invitation of US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, noting Azerbaijan's readiness to contribute to the peace process as a member of the Peace Council.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed the ongoing restoration and reconstruction work in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation. President Ilham Aliyev informed the delegation that during the nearly 30-year occupation, Armenia destroyed Azerbaijan's cultural and material monuments, including Islamic heritage sites and mosques, which are now being systematically restored by the state.

The Arab Parliament serves as the legislative body of the League of Arab States, aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and representing the interests of the Arab people. Azerbaijan's engagement with this body reflects its strategic foreign policy priority of deepening integration with Muslim-majority nations and international organizations to foster regional stability and economic growth.
