On September 26, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation Alexander Ospelt.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the meeting recalled Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of major international sporting events, including winter sports competitions. The parties also noted that Formula 1 races held in Baku had been organized to a high standard.
The meeting noted that modern winter sports and skiing infrastructure had been created in Azerbaijan, and emphasized that a number of major competitions would be held at the Shahdag Tourism Center under the auspices of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.
The parties highlighted the role of a partnership agreement signed last year between Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency and the International Ski and Snowboard Federation in developing the country’s potential in winter tourism and winter sports.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the federation.
