President Ilham Aliyev met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, in Davos on January 20.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani conveyed the greetings of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to the head of state. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and requested that his own regards be conveyed to the Emir of Qatar.
During the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral relations. They emphasized the vast potential for developing cooperation across various sectors, particularly in the economic and trade spheres. Both leaders expressed confidence that the existing close ties between Azerbaijan and Qatar would continue to strengthen in the future. The successful cooperation between the two nations regarding energy supply restoration was also highlighted, specifically noting the role of SOCAR in facilitating energy security initiatives.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The annual summit serves as a critical global platform where heads of state, business leaders, and international organizations gather to discuss pressing geopolitical and economic challenges. Azerbaijan has maintained a consistent presence at the forum to promote its regional leadership, energy initiatives, and investment potential to the global community.
