President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on awarding Azerbaijani carpet weavers with the "Taraggi" (Progress) medal.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that, according to the decree, the following individuals were honored for their efficient activities in the development of the art of carpet weaving in Azerbaijan:

Azerbaijani carpet weaving is a historic tradition and a significant part of the nation's cultural identity. In 2010, the traditional art of Azerbaijani carpet weaving was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The state provides continuous support for the preservation of this ancient craft and its promotion on the international stage through various state programs and specialized institutions.
