Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that he held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and extended an official invitation for him to visit Pakistan.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Sharif made these remarks during his address to the Pakistani parliament.

The Prime Minister stated that during the call, President Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their support of Iran during a challenging period. Sharif emphasized that Pakistan and Iran are not merely neighboring countries, but also brotherly nations with deep-rooted historical and cultural ties.

Sharif further praised Pakistan's role in peace efforts between the United States and Iran, describing the Islamabad Memorandum as a historic diplomatic achievement that enhances the country's international standing. He noted that while there were initial concerns regarding the potential failure of ceasefire negotiations, Pakistan has consistently worked toward finding a sustainable resolution.

The diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Islamabad is part of a broader regional realignment. On June 18, a significant memorandum of understanding was signed between US President Donald Trump, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, marking a new phase in regional diplomacy aimed at long-term stability.
