Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov outlined Moscow’s official position on settling the Ukraine conflict at a news briefing in Moscow.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Kremlin spokesman said Russia does not consider partial or incomplete agreements on the Ukraine crisis sufficient.

According to Peskov, a temporary halt to military operations or freezing the conflict would not resolve the problem: “Freezing the crisis through partial or interim agreements cannot lead the parties to a lasting outcome. Resolving a complex political and military process must be equally broad and comprehensive.”

The Kremlin official stressed that any agreement reached must be based on long-term and reliable security guarantees: “We need a solution and legal mechanisms that provide guarantees for future generations and can withstand the risk of being violated in the future.”

Dmitry Peskov also said Russia welcomed constructive initiatives by other countries aimed at resolving the Ukraine crisis through diplomacy, but that no real and effective efforts in this direction were currently being observed.
