Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov answered questions from local and foreign journalists on global and regional issues at a briefing in Moscow.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Peskov commented on a report in The Washington Post that the United States and European countries were discussing a peace plan to freeze hostilities in Ukraine along the current front line. The Kremlin spokesman said Moscow was unaware of any such initiative or plan.

Commenting on U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks that an agreement had been reached to halt attacks on Russian and Ukrainian energy infrastructure, Peskov said Russia’s priorities remained unchanged. “Diplomatic and technical contacts between the parties on this matter are continuing. The public will receive further information if there is a new, concrete result,” he said.

Asked about the European Union’s dissatisfaction with the United States allowing exports of Russian diesel fuel, and the possibility of a new package of restrictions targeting Russia’s energy sector, Peskov did not rule out that such measures could hinder the implementation of Russian-U.S. agreements:

“There is no doubt that new EU sanctions initiatives could negatively affect the process. However, as U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent rightly noted, Europe’s double standards in the energy sector are now being widely discussed in the global media.”

Peskov recalled that European countries, like others, are in practice active consumers of Russian oil and petroleum products. “Russia is a leading country offering highly competitive products to global energy markets, and this policy will continue,” he said.

The Kremlin spokesman said there was no direct link between the United States authorizing exports of Russian diesel fuel and peace talks on Ukraine. He stressed that energy cooperation between the two countries served their mutual economic interests and the stability of global markets.

Commenting on widespread disruptions to the digital services and server infrastructure of Russian IT giant Yandex, Peskov said the matter was being monitored at the level of the Russian government.

He said it was too early to estimate the financial losses users had suffered as a result of the cyber incident and technical problems. “The company has significant resources and a strong technological base. Certain difficulties have arisen, and the matter is being discussed extensively at government level. Specialists are taking urgent steps to quickly address the consequences of the cyberattack and the disruptions,” he said.
