Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the “TRIPP” project could become a key driver of economic transformation in Armenia and the wider region. He said the project could also help increase investment and expand regional ties.
Pashinyan made the remarks at the opening of the Armenia-United Kingdom business forum in Yerevan. He said Armenia and the region were undergoing a period of transformation in connection with the achievement of peace with Azerbaijan and the processes arising from it.
The prime minister said work was under way on a daily basis to begin implementing the “TRIPP” project on the ground. He stressed that the project would play an important role in changing the economic environment not only in Armenia but across the region.
Pashinyan said the project had already affected Armenia’s investment appeal, with some growth observed in this area. In his view, it would pave the way for new initiatives and strengthen investor interest in Armenia and the surrounding region.
The prime minister added that developments related to the “TRIPP” project were expected soon, alongside the opening of the Armenia-Türkiye border. The restoration of rail links between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as between Armenia and Türkiye, is also envisaged.
“TRIPP,” also known as the “Zangezur corridor,” is a U.S.-backed transit project planned to connect Azerbaijan’s main territory with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Armenia’s southern territory. The initiative followed a trilateral summit in Washington on Aug. 8, 2025, where Azerbaijan, Armenia and the United States signed a joint declaration.
