Over 6 kg of drugs seized in Baku's Khazar district

More than six kilograms of narcotics have been removed from illegal circulation in the Khazar district of Baku.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that a 31-year-old individual, identified as Sanan Mukhtarov, was detained during an operation conducted by officers of the Khazar District Police Department on suspicion of illegal drug trafficking. During the investigation, a total of 6.765 kilograms of hashish and marijuana were discovered and seized. It was determined that the suspect had acquired the narcotics for the purpose of distribution. A criminal case has been initiated, and by court order, a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen for Mukhtarov.

Azerbaijan has recently stepped up its nationwide crackdown on the illegal drug trade to prevent the transit and local distribution of prohibited substances. The Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly carries out such targeted operations in the capital and various regions to maintain public order and safety. These efforts align with the national strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to combat organized crime and protect the health of its citizens.
