More than 19 kilograms of narcotics have been seized in the Sabunchu district of Baku, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
The Operative Information Center-OMM reported that the operation led to the detention of 32-year-old Elsevar Miraliyev and 23-year-old Vahid Karimov, who were suspected of acting as drug couriers.
During the search, authorities discovered over 19 kilograms of marijuana in their possession. Investigations revealed that the suspects intended to distribute the narcotics to various locations throughout the capital, facilitating illegal drug trafficking within the city. A criminal case has been initiated, and the court has ordered the suspects to be held in pre-trial detention.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan frequently conducts such operations as part of the country's ongoing, comprehensive strategy to combat drug trafficking and organized crime. These efforts are critical to maintaining public safety and curbing the illegal distribution of controlled substances across the Republic of Azerbaijan.
