Azerbaijan’s judokas will aim for strong results at the world championships in Baku. Orkhan Safarov, coach of the country’s national junior boys’ team and a former judoka, said he believes in the team’s performance.
Speaking to journalists, Safarov highlighted the importance of the draw. He said each Azerbaijani athlete is ranked highly and that he has confidence in the team members.
The coach said it is difficult to predict results in judo in advance. Noting that unexpected names often come to the fore at competitions, he said he expects Azerbaijan’s team to perform well in front of its home supporters.
The judo world championships will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku from Oct. 4 to 11.
