Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has shared his thoughts on the team’s upcoming match against Barcelona in the second round of the UEFA Champions League league phase.
Buruk said Barcelona’s quality and style of play were well known. He added that Galatasaray players had achieved major successes in Istanbul when they were in good form. The coach said their main aim was to win and that, despite Barcelona being favourites, his team was ready to compete and believed it could succeed.
Buruk said his players needed to stay composed in attack and control possession. He noted that Barcelona had conceded few goals this season and tried to impose its style of play on opponents. In Buruk’s view, Galatasaray must minimise its mistakes throughout the match because the Catalan side can punish every error.
Galatasaray will host Barcelona on October 13, with kick-off scheduled for 23:00 Baku time. The UEFA Champions League league phase brings together clubs from across Europe in a single standings format, with each team playing a series of matches against different opponents.
