Construction is continuing on a 33.8-kilometer road running toward Aghdara and Aghdam, beginning at kilometer 9 of the Sugovushan–Kalbajar highway.
The Azerbaijan State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA) provided the information to the “Operative Information Center-OMM”.
The road is being built in sections to technical standards of categories I, II and III, and is designed to have four or two lanes, depending on the section.
The project envisages the construction of four bridges and 56 culverts along the route. Work is currently under way on the roadbed, culverts and other artificial structures.
A total of 76 pieces of machinery and equipment and a 75-person workforce are operating at the construction site. An asphalt-concrete plant and a specialized facility for sorting quarry materials are also in operation to ensure work continues without interruption.
Once completed, the project will create a continuous road link from Aghdam to Aghdara and onward to Sugovushan and Kalbajar.
The new route will expand transport links in Garabagh and East Zangezur, strengthen connections between settlements and support the continuity of infrastructure projects being carried out as part of the Great Return program.
