A new earthquake has been recorded in the Shamakhi district, marking the latest in a series of seismic activities in the region.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Republican Seismic Survey Center has released official data regarding the event. According to the center, the tremors occurred 23 kilometers southwest of the Pirgulu station within the Shamakhi district. The earthquake, which had a magnitude of 3.8, was recorded at 06:34 local time.

The Bureau of Earthquake Research noted that the seismic hearth was located at a depth of 13 kilometers. The tremors were felt at a strength of up to 3 points at the epicenter and in nearby residential settlements. This event brings the total number of underground tremors recorded in Shamakhi over the last two days to seven. Earlier, a smaller magnitude 3 tremor was also documented in the same vicinity, though it was not felt by residents.

Shamakhi, located in eastern Azerbaijan, is situated in one of the most seismically active zones of the Caucasus. Historically, the region has experienced significant seismic events, most notably the devastating earthquake of 1902. The Republican Seismic Survey Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences continues to monitor the situation closely, as the recent frequency of tremors indicates ongoing tectonic activity in the Shamakhi-Ismayilli seismic zone.
