A new director has been appointed to the Sumgait Music College, which operates under the Azerbaijan National Conservatory.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the appointment was officially announced by the State Agency for Science and Higher Education. The newly appointed director, Natavan Hasanova, has already been introduced to the college staff.
Natavan Hasanova holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in Qanun performance from the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, graduating with honors. She furthered her academic career by defending her dissertation and earning a PhD in Art Studies.
Her professional career includes performing with the Folk Instruments Orchestra of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic since 2004 and engaging in pedagogical activities at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory since 2007. She has participated as a soloist and orchestral musician in numerous state-level events. Notably, in 2015, she was awarded first place and the "Best Performance" diploma at a competition held at Carnegie Hall in New York, USA.
The Sumgait Music College plays a pivotal role in the regional cultural landscape of Azerbaijan, serving as a key institution for training young musicians and preserving the nation's rich musical heritage.
