Neftchi extend contract with midfielder Emil Safarov

Neftchi have extended the contract of midfielder Emil Safarov.

According to information provided by the Baku club to "Operative Information Center-OMM", the 23-year-old has signed a new two-year contract with an option for an additional season.

Safarov has represented the “black and whites” since 2024. Over the past two seasons, he has made 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

Neftchi Chief Executive Officer Cenk Sumer assessed the new agreement as follows: “Our talented 23-year-old player Emil Safarov is someone who, with his character, potential and performances, can make an important contribution both to our club and to the Azerbaijan national team. He is also one of the players who can serve as an example for the younger generation developing in Azerbaijan’s football academies.

During the two years we have spent together, we have closely witnessed Emil’s constant desire to improve, determination, loyalty to the shirt, and love for his club and our devoted supporters. Taking into account the contributions he can make to Neftchi and Azerbaijani football in the future, we decided to extend his contract. We wish him successful and bright days in his career at Neftchi and with the Azerbaijan national team.”
